I know i might take some heat for this one, but still.
if you hit 1000 posts your a millennium member
if you hit 5000 posts your a lifetime member
the distance between 1000 and 5000 is HUGH!
couldn't we have something in the middle, like 2500 or 3000, like "Honor Member"
Gavin ? Maeve?

JohnE -
I think you are attaching WAY TOO MUCH IMPORTANCE to post totals. They don't mean anything.

I totally agree with Suzette ... it's just a name attached, and as I've said before, all it signals is that some have more time to post than others. It doesn't mean anything more than that. What's the big deal with the name/title?

^^I agree with the 2 above me. In fact I wouldn't care if there were no titles at all. I have always liked it when boards don't pay attention to post counts or titles. B/c it never fails that someone thinks it makes them "special" or there are some new members that feel intimidated by it.

Agree with everybody else.
And I wonder what your motivation was for even asking this. On the Off Topic Forum, every other post is posted by JohnE. I know we can all have a lot to say at times, but it seems like you post things just to post and then look to be respected for it.

I think the titles/names were created for the sake of encouraging people to post and keep the board active. I think what we have right now is enough :)

I'm sorry you feel that way, and you are entitiled to your opinion.
i have been posting around the boards for 5 years , and will continue to just as i have before. there is a great talk about negativity around here lately , and now i know what stacey ment. I love iCompact, and love posting here, and will not be discouraged by...

I think our names our fine as they are. I agree with the others; it gets too hierarchical if the ratings were elaborated anymore. I do kind of wish they'd be done away with so everyone feels equal!

well, in support of JohnE, most forums do offer more "stages/titles".. but i hardly ever notice them anyway.. and in support of Cutie123, i too think that we should do away with titles and just show post numbers.. numbers are encouraging enough :)

No offense to anyone, but I think this debate is getting a little bit ridiculous. I, for one, don't even pay any particular attention to what title somebody has. We all have our own unique advice to share and questions to ask, and it's the quality of the information due to the fact that we are able to help each other out that matters more than the quantity of our posts. I have made some great friends on these boards and it doesn't matter to me if they have more posts than I do. That's not the point of the boards. It just means that they had more to say at a particular time!

In the later rejuvenated spirit of keeping things honnest and respecting each other's feeling. for me, the status of a member, or atleast mine is important.
call me shallow, but i appriciate a little recognition in all the post and threads, or a.k.a the contribution i made to the forums.
this is my opinion and mine only, you are welcome to disagree, in the kind and respectful way that iCompact stands for :)

But when you post just to post or get to some "standing" or special number, there is no contribution. It's just words.
And please stop PM'ing me.

I have only PM you onced, and got no reply from you, so that's hardly PM'ing you.
I never post just to "post" or raise my post numbers, that is your assumption and yours alone

uh, no, that's not just my opinion.
I've tried to say this as nicely as possible in the past - you place WAY TOO MUCH importance on how many posts people have, who's on the list, etc. I am so tired of seeing every other post started by you.
I've never said anything like this before but it's become so annoying that I simply cannot visit iCompact anymore.
