View Full Version : Why does everything I put under my eyes make them look worse???

Is there no downplaying the crepiness (or is that crappiness???). If I apply a concealer to lighten and brighten, it's like throwing a spotlight on lines! Are we just doomed????

I've been using Clarin's Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch primer for several months now on my undereye area b4 I apply concealer and it really makes a difference.
I've also been using MakeUpForEver's Lift Concealer and it works wonders as well. These two products together make a difference for me. My undereye area doesn't dry out, my concealer doesn't sink into any little lines, and it lasts all day. HTH!!!:)

Now that I've gone back and read my response and my signature, it may seem foolish that I'm 22 and responding here, BUT the skin under my eyes is pretty dry and my concealers used to sink into even the smallest, skinniest of lines after a few hours...I swear! Just kinda wanted to explain myself:p

You made me think to try something. I've got Olay Regenerist that I'm going to try under my eyes. It doesn't do a thing for the rest of my face as far as refining skin texture, so I'm going to see if it gives me any problems there. If it doesn't work out, I may look into your suggestions. Thanks!

Honey, I'm 48 - and I feel your pain! No matter how creamy or light the concealer I use, it emphasizes the lines under my eyes. God forbid I try to set it with powder!
Here's my suggestion, besides moisturizing well.
Dab concealer on only the darkest areas. That's the inner corner of your eye, slightly below and to the outside (towards your nose) and blend well, Use a light liquid concealer or highlighter like Maybelline's new two-in-one that has a liquid concealer on one side and a highlighter on the other.
STAY AWAY from the orbital bone area under your eye and above it. Use a dab of your concealer or highlighter directly under your lower lashline, which tends to be red or dark. Tap it lightly to blend. Now, move to the outer corner of your eye, which also tends to be dark or red, and dab your concealer or highlighter there. Tap to blend. Now, step back and take in your face, and you'll find the difference is amazing.
I don't even apply foundation under my eyes because it emphasizes the lines.
Besides, I think slight undereye circles on a woman look kinda sexy. You don't want to erase your face!
Also, tap a moisturizer lightly under your eyesabove the orbital bone throught the day. It'll plump up skin and make lines less noticeable.

I find any of the glowy or shimmery foundations or highlighting powders look great for an hour, and after than they just make my lines glow.

I'm having a lot of luck with a blend of vitamin E gel and Every Day Minerals intensive light concealer.
Using a clean foundation brush pick up a very small amount of Vitamin E gel and stroke on clean surface to work through bristles, using the now damp brush pick up a little EDM powder in your concealer color and apply this directly to the under eye area. (I then finish my face with more vitamin E gel with my foundation color by EDM and then a light dry dusting of Finishing Dust).
It doesn't sit in the creases at all on me, and at 22 I already have lines...
Hope you find something that works for you.
I hate those little lines!
