View Full Version : Hot weather always gives me colds!

Oh man I do not like hot weather at all! Why? Well because everytime the weather gets hot, I start to get colds.
I've been sneezing, sniffling, a sore throat, had bouts of fever, and I have a runny nose to boot. I was feeling pretty good up until Tuesday when the weather shot up to 110 degrees where I go to school. Naturally the air conditioners indoors were full blast, which was bad news for me...
After all I've learned that hot weather+air conditioner+Jedahbelle=Instant cold. It seriously sucks since all of my other classmates seem to be healthy, but then again they're probably used to the weather in the area(San Fernando Valley). Unfortunately that's not the case with me since I live in an area that is at least 20-25 degrees cooler.
I was just wondering if anyone else also catches colds in this type of weather?

Ironically, I tend to get bouts of the sniffles because of way-too-cold air conditioning too. I've learned to just keep a zip-up hoodie or a light jacket in my car to throw on when I know I'll be going somewhere where I might be cold. I hope you feel better soon!

I don't have a cold, but this hot weather has really been making me feel crappy. I think it's the air quality/ozone thats bothering my allergies, but like you, most days I'm sneezing, sore throat, swollen glands, low-grade fever, etc. It sucks! I'm almost ready for cold weather, and I don't really like cold weather. :p Hope you feel better soon!

I have a cold right now! I can't wait for this hot weather to be over! Here in New England this past week it has been hot but comfortable due to low humidity, which is my kind of hot weather. I can't stand the humidity. This cold has been going around within our family - my sister-in-law and her 5-month-old son recently had it, and now my father-in-law and I have it. It's really putting a damper on my long weekend.

Yes, if you are constantly between the heat outside and the cold air conditioning inside, you can get fevers and viruses. It's important to keep vitamins up so that your imunity stands a better chance. I take a light cardigan to work even during the summer to slip on wherever I can expect freezing cold air con.
Summer is the worst time ever to get colds.

In hot weather, the indoors are closed up all the time and nothing gets aired out. Easy to get sick that way.

Well I'm feeling better today, but I've learned an important lesson. Even if I look like a crazy lady, I'm going to start taking a hoodie to school.

I'm glad you're feeling better. I always take a hoodie to school...some of the classrooms are so chilly my teeth practically chatter.

I'm glad that you're feeling better, and I definitely agree with taking a hoodie to school. At my office sometimes in the summer when the air conditioner is turned up really high, my co-workers and I are usually freezing and wearing some type of hoodie or jacket. It's not crazy at all!

ITA! I always carry a light jacket/hoodie around with me even in hot weather. I don't know why, but I always seem to be so much colder than everyone else, even if the AC is at a comfortable level for most people. I can't stand to be cold, so I'll carry around a jacket even if it does seem a little crazy.
