OK, Ive never had a regular cycle in my life - no 1x/month period, etc, Unless I'm on BCP. I was on Ortho-Lo & it was great until the last month when I was EXTREMELY moody & had horrible cramping - honestly the worst I've ever had. I tried Yasmin after that & my sex drive was 0 - & my BF was quite insecure, so that prob contributed to our demise :p I haven't had a period in 4 months & at this point I feel like I'm PMSing ALL the time!! Bloated, moody, etc. I've taken 2 preg tests, both are negative. I guess my question is, If I was to get on BCP to have a period, would that work? Also, would it just help regulate me/relieve my symptoms in general? & what's the best low-does hormone one to get on? TIA

I use Lessina (generic form of Alesse) and I love it. It's a lo-dose similar to Ortho-Lo. I used Ortho-TC before that and had horrible mood swings, but I have truly had no side effects from Alesse. My period comes on the same day each month, right around the same time, no surprises there.

I was on Ortho-Tricyclen (although for you I'd recommend the LO dose form).

It really helped regulate my cycle and made PMS symptoms easier to predict and deal with.

Hope your doctor can set you up with something that your body agrees with.

I was on OTC-Lo for years and it gave me terrible mood swings and cramps as well. I'm on Loestrin-24 right now and it's great. If anything, I get a little weepy, but not mean, and my sex drive is fine

Like you, I had no regular cycles. They were chaotic. Was checked and nothing was wrong with me, my hormones just worked when they felt like it *LOL*.
Being on the Pill worked wonderfully. It got rid of the sort-of-PMS symptoms I had for many days, sometimes without actually getting a period!
And the pill made my periods shorter and better.

It depends a lot on what pill you take.
Not necessarily the low doses pills are the best. Usually yes, but not all. Say, my doc is not fond of Yasmin, although he admits it works for many women. He studied my hormones and afterwards only suggested the right pill or the possible pills for me. I started with Ortho tri cyclen, which was ok, but as time went by and that he kept on the follow-up, he switched to Ortho Cyclen, and it was a bliss. Then again, I am 34 and women my age usually are at a higher risk to conceive on very low dose pills (teenagers or very young women might do better with low dose pills).

Yes, if you started the pill you would get regular cycles.

On a sidenote, what has helped me TREMENDOUSLY with PMS is taking calcium supplements every day, especially before my period (twice the dose). It has made all the moodiness, cramps, bloating, etc. go away. My doc suggested it and I didn't believe in that much, but he was right! if you add to that vitamin B supplements, it's even better.
Good luck, keep us posted!

With Ortho Tr Cyclen my cycle is spot on. I get it exactly when I'm supposed to. Before that it sucked. I never knew when it was coming.

I was on Ortho Tr Cyclen Lo for almost a year too and it really regulates my cycle. I know exactly when it's coming and each time it only lasts about 2-3 days, much shorter than my natural cycle. I do get sorta moody tho. I don't think I'm going to use the pill anymore even after I have my baby.
