View Full Version : Need some help when it comes to PMS

For the past few months I've noticed that about a week or 2 before my period (PMS) I get mood swings really bad, and I mean REALLY bad. I take a lot out on my boyfriend and I don't mean to do it on purpose, but my problem is that I have a semi-bad temper to begin with so around that time if one thing annoys me I go off like a fire cracker and end up wigging out on someone especially my boy and I feel awful. I was wondering if there were perhaps any vitamins or what not out there to kind of balance me out a bit so i'm not so snippy and mean around that time of the month. I always wanted to go on BC because I heard there were a few out there that helped with this situation, but my problem is that I don't have heath insurance right now so I'd have to pay out of my pocket. If anyone could help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated:)

I posted a thread very similar to this a few weeks ago when I was in the throws of my PMS. I think you'll find the information very helpful. I know I did!!! It's under Health & Fitness & it's entitled, "Need Advice for Bad PMS". HTH:)

I believe Planned Parenthood might have bc available on a sliding scale price. You'd have to check. And some medications can make PMS worse. I'm on Allegra for allergies and one side effect (which is one of the first on the list) is menstrual cramps. So if you are on any medications, you might want to check side effects.

Yes there is a thread on here about it that is very helpful. Another thing to try is clary sage essential oil. I have it in a roll on from www.escents.com but I am sure you can find something similar. its called Feminine Cycles and really helps with the cramps and emotions. You can also try primrose or flaxseed oil to balance the hormones. Flaxseed is cheaper but works the same as primrose.
