Is yellow brown discharge normal? Ive noticed this discharge for more than a year. I don't have insurance so I haven't gone to a doc. I noticed it's darker after my period. It normally light yellowish. No itch, no burn.

& another (dumb) question: Do we always discharge? I notice sometimes it's clear....

Any thoughts?

Yep, I know the discharge. My doctor said it changes during the month depending on hormones or something. Since going on BCP I've noticed it doesn't happen as much.

As long as it's clear to light yellow with no itch or burn, then it's normal from what I've read and been told. And yes, we all get it - lucky us!

Lucky indeed.

But seriously good for you for asking,

So true. We are all different so it depends on what is normal for you. Normal for me is high acidic PH that bleaches and deteriorates underwear (seriously lol!) but that's what liners are handy for.

If all your paps are normal, then there's nothing to worry about. There is a bacterial condition that can cause strange smells and colours but it isn't serious and it can be detected by a pap, and treated with antibiotics.

since we're talking about this. Do you all your gals use liners? if so wouldn't you have to change it every single time you go to the bathroom? I stopped using them since they got a little costly and now i just use a few squares of toilet paper to line my underwear.
Also what do you do when you're wearing a thong? do you just not wear a liner?
This might also be a weird question but isn't it a bit embarrassing when you're about to get intimate with someone and the liner shows up?
i've been with my boyfriend a long time so i'm comfortable around him but just wondering what you gals do when say you have a new boyfriend and such...sorry if it's too personal i've always been curious of this.

I got these micro liners especially for g-strings, by Libra. They were 70 cents for 30, which is pretty cheap and they work well.

I only wear liners during my period, but they do make some for thongs.

I wear liners just before and just after my period...
I even bought some designed for thongs.

hehe.

I also wear liners just before and after my period, and yes, I have bought the ones made especially for thongs too. Carefree makes them, among other brands.

I wear liners everyday, & I also use the one formulated for thongs. The liners help my underwear last longer

I have the habit of wearing liners all the time, it just makes me feel cleaner. And this habit helps me during my pregnancy, cuz you get even more discharge when you are pregnant. So you definitely have to wear liners.

Discharge is normal unless there are signs of infection (e.g. smells bad, looks funny, etc). The darker color after your period is probably from leftover blood.

Here's a link to info about discharge and how it corresponds to your cycle.

As for liners, I also use them before and after my period. I don't know if I can use them beyond that though. It just feels more comfortable to me if everything can "breathe" down there. :o

Pantiliners are a must in my case! I always feel much cleaner and happier when I wear them. I tend to buy a huge box of these at Costco(about $7-8), and they'll last me for months :)

Yep, pantyliners are a must have. I get the huge pack of them at Sam's Club. Like over 100 in a box. They do help me feel clean and make my undies last longer. I also carry around baby-wipes wherever I go.

If it doesn't look funny, smell funny, burn, ect then it is probably okay. If you're still not sure, definitely see a doc. I see you're in PR and I don't know if they have Planned Parenthood like places there or any place that for those w/o insurance but if they do, go to one of those and get checked out if you are worried about anything.

Discharge varies depending on where you are out in your cycle. Usually right after and right before your period it will almost dry up. Near ovulation it will be wet or almost egg white in consistancy. Monitoring it gives you an idea of where you are at in your cycle and if you are near ovulation or not, although that is not the only determining factor.

I know right? I couldn't agree more with this. I hate dealing with discharge, but I think I'd hate it even worse if I had to wear liners everyday. I think they're so annoying.

I don't wear liners usually, but I usually carry a few just in case I randomly start my period, which has been known to happen. This is usually enough until I make it home or gain access to something more absorbent. They can come in handy.

I'm like this, too! I hate the feeling of wearing liners, I only do when I absolutely have to.

Agree with everyone about what's been said about discharge.

The only time I've ever worn liners was when I was pregnant & for several months afterward (after the healing process). I hated every second I had a liner on. It just doesn't feel okay to me.

I'm of the opinion that there are days for nicer undies, and days for not-so-nice undies. Plan accordingly.
