View Full Version : Just wondering, a salon S/C question...

Hello all,

I have used Aussie Moist forever and have recently decided to give a salon brand a whirl. As a habit (since my hair tends to be on the coarse and bristly processed side) I've always layed on tons of conditioner and left it on a decent amount of time. Well, now I've been using Joico Color Endure for the last few days (using my same technique, mind you) and have been finding my hair to feel limpish and dirtyish. Since this is a "higher" end product, should I be using less to get desired results??
Just curious, don't know if my methodology of thinking is wacky or maybe Joico S/C's are just too moisturizing for my hair??

Thanks!

Does the bottle tell you how much you should use and how you should use it? That may change things. Or maybe it's like you said, Joico is too moisturizing for your hair.

I would check the directions on the bottle like Kat said. It could be that it's just too moisturizing for your hair. I have very coarse hair too and I use all high-end products. I always use a lot of conditioner and I never have any problems. I have never tried Joico though.

Their instructions are very vague, it just says to apply. I'm hoping this stuff isn't too rich for my hair :-( I really hate wasting money like that! It's one thing if it's drugstore product and complete other if it's salon stuff!

I would say to use smaller amounts for now and see how that goes.

ITA. Sometimes that can make a difference if a product is too moisturizing for your hair.

I agree - I find that high-end shampoos and conditioners tend to be more concentrated.

I would just try using lessd, but also take a look at the ingredients. My hair doesn't do well w/ a ton of silicones, maybe the Joico is loaded w/ them?

Maybe try diluting it with water? Like kitkat85 said, check for silicone content too. I recently stopped using silicones altogether, and my hair is SOOO much happier! If diluting it or using less doesn't work, maybe it's just not right for your hair.

I will definitely try using less. It's just so hard, I guess I'm used to using a ton!
