I saw some at the store the other day. It looks interesting, but i'm too scared to buy it and then completely ruin my hair. I don't straighten my hair all that often, but when i do, i take forever 'cuz i blow dry then i straighten small sections at time. If i can eliminate at least 10 minutes of that, it might be worth it, but it's scary to put a hot iron on wet hair. So, has anyone had an experiences with these?

I've never tried one of these, but they scare me. The thought of putting a hot straightener on wet hair makes me think of fried, burnt hair and lots of painful snagging, especially with my very thick hair. I'd much rather use a regular straightener after I blowdry my hair.

I have a Solia hair straightener, which I've used for about 3 years now (I'm on my second one, actually). It can be used on *damp* hair, but to tell you the truth, it actually takes longer straightening from damp hair than it does from bone dry.
I've asked many hair stylists about this and they all say the same: it is ok to use a flat iron on damp (NOT soaking wet) hair to straighten without damaging it. in some ways, they say, it is better, because, if properly protected with leave-in/protectant it locks in moisture.

That's interesting to know, Mer. I've been afraid to use a wet to dry type straightener for the same reasons, but now maybe I'd be more willing to try it.

I have a Remington Wet 2 Straight that I've used on damp hair and it works just fine.

These straighteners definitely work on damp (not wet) hair. My Solia hair straightener is a steam one so I can use it on damp hair. It's actually not damaging and great in a pinch when I'm in a hurry. Honestly, I usually blow-dry my hair completely first.
