Last time I went for a haircut the stylist (who I will NOT be going back to because she was rude and pushy) got me to try Matrix Amplify swearing that it would be perfect for my hair. Well, honestly it's total crap for me. It doesn't do anything more for me than my old Herbal Essences (it actually leaves my hair less soft and less shiny and the smell sometimes gives me a migraine) so I'm looking for something else. My hair is fine, thin and super straight. I don't heatstyle it at all, usually just wash it and go so I'm not really looking for anything that will protect it from heat or help cut frizz. I just want something that will leave it soft, shiny and manageable and doesn't have an overpowering scent. My hair also tends to flyaway a bit if it's *tooo* clean so any recs for a product to help with that would be greatly appreciated too.
Price isn't too much of an issue but I'd prefer to not have to spend a bundle on the shampoo unless it's truly amazing. Thanks for any recs:)
I was just thinking the other day..."why can't I find a shampoo and conditioner that are REALLY and truly helpful to my hair?" I can't, I've tried expensive stuff, ends up being crap, I use cheap stuff that doesn't help or hurt my hair it just doesn't really DO anything. I've decided that nothing expensive I've tried is any better than the cheaper stuff. I'd pay more if there was something that really did benefit my hair! AND for the life of me, I cannot remember what I used to use years ago when my hair was actually in good shape...well it's probably been discontinued. But I do remember that I used that cheap Cholesterol stuff. http://www.cosmeticsolutions.biz/servlet/Search?category=Hair%3AHair+Care%3ACholesterol+Pro ducts&oem=Queen+Helene
That's what we used in Cosmetology all the time and sat under the hot drier. I used it at least once a week and I'm fixing to go get some again. My hair used to be in good shape and we didn't have much choice of what to use. We did NOT have all these fancy "schmancy" products there are today and my hair was a million times better than it is now.
So anyway, I'd love to know too!

I really love Suave hair products. My hair is thin, straight, and tends to be oily at the scalp.
I like the Suave salon knockoffs and the Naturals line in Green Apple which is the best scent ever. I am currently using their children's 2-in1 shampoo line which has 'cones' in it to smooth out my hair.
My hair is just not that fussy so Suave is fine for me. And it is super cheap which is right up my alley. HE HE!!
Yeah right now I'm using a Suave salon knock off too for the shampoo but using Vive for my conditioner. I found the Vive at the $1 store! YIPPEE!
The absolute worst condition I've tried is Redken(Extreme) on my fine medium length hair. HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT! What a waste of money!

I love Suave too...I really do. I CO-wash most of the time, but I occasionally use their Daily Clarifying shampoo. Awesome stuff. My hair is fine, kinda thin, naturally curly and prone to dryness.

AMplify is soooo drying!! If you want some volumzing, I like Redken Body Full. ITA about Suave though - I use their Nexxus k/o's & love them! But my hair is coarse & dry, so I dont know if that would be too heavy for you.

I think Dove's shampoos and conditioners would be perfect for you. I personally like the Cool Moisture ones. If you don't need deep cleansing or deep conditioning, they are perfect. I have long, fine curly hair and these work fine for me.

I have been using a sulfate free shampoo and conditoner for the past month and I can definitely tell a difference -- my hair is softer and looks more healthy. It also seems to help with those pesky flyaways near the crown of my head (I hate those!) I use Terax products, but there are several brands that are SLS-free. I've heard good things about the Brocato line, and it's not super expensive.

I have long, fine curly hair and these work fine for me. Dove shampoos/conditioners are great but the scent overwhelms me. They are too fragranced for me. They smell nice but I find the scent lingers for too long. If they came up with an unscented version, I'd jump on it.

I agree with trying a sulfate free one. I've been using Kiss My Face Big Body for almost a year now and my hair has been really healthy (stylist even commented). I takes a few weeks of yuckiness for your hair to get use to no sulfates but after that the results are fantastic.

I third the rec for sulfate free products. I personally like the Pureology line. When I use them, I'm amazed at how they make your hair just "your hair". They don't take or strip away...and at the same time they don't really add much. You hair just is what it is. If your hair is in good condition naturally, then something like this would be nice for you. If your hair is a mess (dried out), then this might not be for you.
