What would you recommend for a nice winter nailpolish for someone who is very pale? I am searching for a nice shade that's not super dark, but will look good during the winter months :-).

I'll be interested in what others have to say as well! I don't wear much nail polish but I like to wear something more dramatic on my nails in winter occasionally.

Ooooh, I 2nd I'm Not Really A Waitress. It's my fave red nail polish ever.
I also really like OPI Malaga Wine, and Revlon Steel-etto.

Gonna have to check out I'm Not Really A Waitress. There's another beautiful red OPI shade mentioned in another thread, An Affair in Red Square. I want it!

INRAW is a really beautiful shade, definitely check that one out! I've been wearing Essie "Wicked" on my toes for the past few weeks. It's IMO the same as OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark which is a really popular shade (deep, deep blood red). I think it'd be too much for my hands, or perhaps just something I'd really have to get used to. I've never been a fan of black n/p, and it almost looks that dark.

It seriously is that dark! I'm wearing it on my nails now. I had it done at the salon for Halloween, but I'm going to have them do a polish change tonight when I get my eyebrows waxed because I'm tired of it already. With one coat it would have been a nice vampy plum shade, and it was fine for Halloween, but I can't sport black nails for the next two weeks. With two coats it is definitely straight-up black. Had I known better I would have only done one coat.

I love Essie Wicked. I only wear it on my toes too though, since I don't polish my fingernails. If you are worried about it looking too dark on your pale skin, you could apply just one coat. It won't be quite as dramatic that way. Also check out the shades in the OPI Russian collection. There are some beautiful ones there. They are the usual red and plum shades, but also a navy shade and a couple of lighter ones.

Aww man, Shannara, why'd I have to come back and find this response? :) Those are really pretty shades. I'm going to take your suggestion and see what 1 coat of Wicked looks like--I'm really bad at painting my own nails, so this will definitely be an experiment!
If I end up doing an OPI haul, that will be the 2nd haul I can blame on you this week! After your EDM thread, I went to their page and ended up picking up mini's of 4 blushes, 1 foundation, and a lip gloss! :p

In the Allure issue I'm reading now (I think I'm on September's issue - I can't keep up since I subscribed!), a model is pictured wearing Essie Wicked and it looks gorgeous. I'm going to look for it next time I'm at the nail salon.
