I have been debating about this for a few weeks. My nails are really thin and they don't really grow. So after giving in much tought I decided to get acrylics again. I had them a couple years back and remember how nice my hands looked. The upkeep is a pain I mean having to go every two weeks for the fill in. But I am willing to make the sacrifice. I guess it's part of taking care of me

I personally hate the idea of acrylics. It seems so unhealthy to me. Just keep them short - I say. It seems like half the women here have painted nails and the other half go bare and short. I am part of the later group and I don't feel so out of place.

I always love getting my nails done, although I do agree somewhat with ammoniasmith... if you want to get fakes put on have you looked in to getting solars? They are a tad bit better for the nail since they don't really grind it down like they do with acrylics. Just a thought...my personal thoughts, I love the look of short nails now :) I've alwaysss had short nails and I think short polished nails are adorable.

I've never had acrylic nails done...
I'm scared!
But if they worked well for you before then why not...

Go w/what makes you happy :) ... I have gel nails, and will always have them for as long as I can, because my hands themselves are so freakishly small, I like the look that long nails give me ... they look more grown up ;).
And if your nail tech does it right, you don't have to go for fill ins every 2 weeks. Shoot, I push the envelope and get away w/going every 4-5 weeks lol.

Fun! I like getting my nails done but I'm too lazy to keep up with it. :p

I do acrylics though I need to try solars. I don't mind going in every 3 weeks or so for fills, but the $$$ is rediculous! Plus then I look at my feet & think "well they need to be pretty too" lol.

I've never had acrylics nails before either, it just seems like a lot of work. But I bet your nails will look nice! I love being pampered.

I am with you on acrylics, Keishla. I just put mine back on last week after having them off for over a month. I tried to grow my own nails, and it worked out for a while, but mine always break so far down that it's painful (I was a chronic nail biter when I was younger). I can't stand when the lengths of my nails are all uneven, so I always cave and go back to the acrylics. But honestly, the look of them makes me happy. I keep them square and short though because I don't like the long look. I love doing dark colors for Fall and Winter. I have a nice warm red on right now. I don't mind going for fills; I actually find it relaxing. Have fun getting yours done! :p

Nail days are always fun days :) I'd never get acrylics personally, even back when I was a nail biter/picker. I'm just not a fan of the look. But now that I've finally beaten my bad habit, I just love having my nails done. The pampering is so nice. And it felt so good to have the lady at the nail place gush over how 'pretty' my nails are---its like getting skin compliments after years of having acne :)

I have acrylics and <3 them. I got them removed once school started, for about 2 months.... I realized i really liked how the finished my hand. My nails take forever to grow so I don't go back for at least 3 weeks, sometimes longer. Even the nail tech's tell me when i've come in too early and send me home, lol.

I just got acrylics done about 5 weeks ago and I love them. :) I did have to take them off because one broke and I just didn't find the time to get them fixed. When I have the money, I love how acrylics look and feel.

I wore acrylics for a couple of years and loved them. I don't know that I'd ever get them done again, as I now love the look of short polished nails. I loved how it looked at the time, definitely more grown-up like Christine said.

I had acrylics and they looked really nice but I can't afford the upkeep as it can be very very expenisive and mine were long so I couldn't type as fast and accurate as I can with my real nails and I need to type really fast. They damaged my real nails too so that sucked. But good for you Keisha, every girl deserves to be pampered. :)

I got them done and I am so happy!! They look so pretty. But the problem is that it seems I am a bit allergic to the acrylic. They itch a bit but nothing I can't handle. This happened to me before so I was expecting it. I love were I am getting them done. It's the same place I get my hair done. I always have so much fun when I go there. The tech is the owner of the place and she is really nice and was very gentle. I think she did an excellent job. I really am loving how my hands look. They look nice and polished. I also was a nail bitter when I was younger so my nails do not grow very well. I do think this is the right choice. I have no idea what solar nails are? I have never heard of them. Can anyone tell me what they are?

Chevone-I hate that I can't type as fast, either! I had a big problem with typing on my phone-the Blackberry keys are tiny and my nails got in the way.

I'm glad you're happy with them, Keishla! I have to get a fill on Friday. :)

ohh yeah definetly happy! I have gotten used to them pretty easy. The kids at school are really liking them as well. I am really glad I did it plus I also have a lot of fun when I got the salon. It's just a very personal treatment that you get. It's a very familiar place. The full set price was not bad either it was just $25 the fill in is just $15.I didn't leave them so long. I prefer my nails nice and short not to out there. So I have adjusted to them pretty well. I got them color with a nice pink tone. It looks sp pretty and femenine

I'm glad you love your nails. I've never had my nails done before, acrylics or not. I love doing my own nails.
