Well, as soon as school finishes up, I made a promise with myself that I'm going to hit the gym up more frequently and eat MUCH healthier (including not eating out as often as I do). Well, it's kind of difficult this month since 1) my cousin came back from boot camp last week so we celebrated his late birthday and welcome home party 2) my dad's birthday was yesterday so we had a HUGE party for him 3) I graduate next Friday so we're throwing a party for me on Saturday 4) All the Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years dinners I will be attending AFTER my graduation party. :(
But i made a deal with myself that if i lose 10lbs, i'm going to buy myself some new things for the closet (a good incentive to lose weight AND save money :p ).

I find the winter season in general a difficult time to lose weight. It's so tempting to stay warm, curled up inside, and just shovel in junk food. Best of luck to you -I'm trying too.

I agree, winter time and especially the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays are really hard to lose weight. I'm trying to lose a lot of weight myself, and I'm working out pretty much every day, but I'm not seeing any progress yet. And plus with eating out, and holiday get-togethers and parties, it's hard to eat healthy.

Don't worry, I'm also in the same boat. I'm starting tomorrow with eating healthier and getting exercise in. Remember, even though you have tons of parties to go to, you can still have fun while watching what you eat. Just don't go over-broad, and keep sweets to a limited. Have fun! and Congrats on graduating! You can do it!

Awww! Don't get too down on yourself. A LOT of people (myself included) gain weight this time of year. You have to be pretty vigilant not to gain weight -- too much food, it's really cold (less exercise)...
Good luck.

It's hard for me right now, too. I feel like people laugh when I say "I'm trying to be good" or "I'm on a diet" this time of year. It's impossible to avoid all of the sweets, but starting tomorrow I've made a vow to be stricter with myself and to exercise every day. I figure even if I have that piece of pie, at least I'm staying physically active at the same time.

I feel your pain LOL ... I've got my birthday coming up, a Xmas party this coming Friday, the holidays, my husband's bday ... it just snowballs.
And it sure doesn't help that I bought a huge tray of baklava that is just dripping with honey sitting in the kitchen. It ain't gonna be pretty.

It's always so hard this time of the year! I get really unmotivated to go to the gym too, because it's a good 10-minute walk from my dorm and the weather now sucks (sleet, snow, freezing rain, etc). I need to be really good about hopping on the treadmill when I'm home though-I'm going to Mexico in January and I want to look good!

I remember that when I first started trying to lose weight, my mom kept pushing to start around this time of year. I absolutely refused since I wanted to be able to pig out on all the Christmas goodies!
I seriously refused to be deprived of all the cakes, cookies, egg nog, and other tasty holiday eats! Even if I had started my diet in December, I would have kept cheating, so what's the point? I waited till January to start, and I was more motived at that point.
This year I admit I've been eyeing a box of butter stollen that's sitting in the pantry, but I'll try not to go too overboard :D

Well if you think you need any fitness advice for after the holidays, & even during, I would recommend a cool DVD by Elle. I have been using it recently. It's called Glam Fitness Total Toning. I found this gem at Ross clothing store for $5 dollars. It kicks butt and is fun! There's another cool one called Ripped 1000 to where you can burn up to 1,000 calories. Ross is a cool place to find great exercise DVD's super cheap, plus movies as well!:D As far as all these parties go, try & eat half as much as you normally would if you can.

What's a 'Ross' store? Is that like a sporting goods store? Obviously we don't have one in Kansas city. :p

I feel your pain. The weather has been so cold and all the snow, sleet, ice, and icy rain has not made me want to go to the gym as often as I do when it's warmer but I'm going on vacation in June and need to lose another 20 pounds so I need to just go. I've been eating healthy for the most part so I haven't gained any weight just remained the same.

I've been working out at home and it feels great. I love listening to music while I'm on the treadmill. I've been doing better eating-wise than I expected, too! I just have to tell myself I'm not going to overindulge...and then I don't. :)

I've been working out while I'm home on holiday vacation from work, too. I skipped yesterday though because it was Christmas and I really didn't have time to get a workout in with all of the company we had over. I was up pretty early in the morning and then people were coming over fairly early so I had to get ready right after I opened my presents, then they didn't leave until late at night and I was ready to pass out from exhaustion. I'm going to get a good workout in today to make up for it in a little while.

I agree that the holidays are an aweful seasing to loose weight. I think just try not to go overboard when you attend this parties and don't deprive yourself of anything you want. Try to drink plenty of water.
