I Googled "calorie counter" and found this site:
http://caloriecount.about.com/
I decided to sign up and logged all the things I ate today and how long I worked out. It was an eye-opener. I tend to snack when I'm bored and I haven't been working out recently. My daily calorie goal is 1900 and I already have 2200 today. Today I ate healthy though with a few cookies here and there. This is probably why I've had trouble losing weight.
It's really cool cause I put in all my information and it gives you goals and suggestions based on your activity level and your weight. I'm gonna try and do this everyday so I can keep track of what I'm eating.

I got a program like that I have to use for my Nutrition class (the program came with the textbook). It is an eye-opener! I had over 2000 calories one day as well and I need to intake only 1900 like you. I've been trying to cut back ever since.

Thanks for posting this website, Rachel. I'm definitely going to take a look at it this week.

I've been doing this for 3 days now and I'm already feeling better. It's cool cause you can check your nutrition "grade" at the end of the day. I've been doing pretty well and I didn't know standing burns calories. I stand all day at work and it burns about 100 calories an hour.:D
Thanks. I'll take a look. I've been using the one on www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com) It also does a nutritional analysis so you know whether you are getting the necessary nutrients from your diet.
The activity section is pretty detailed on fitday too. I guess you burn calories while sitting too. :D

I love fitday.com
I've been using it for about an year, on and off. The nutrition charts are really great. It's definitely an eye opener. I also like how you can find out what % of fat-carbs-protein you are consuming. I like to keep it 40% carbs - 35% protein - 25% fat, and I usually check out the stats during the day and eat accordingly (but almost always fail to get those round numbers!)-
Anyways, glad you are taking charge of your health Rachel!!;)

It's going to take a lot more than standing around at work to burn calories. 100 calories and hour sounds like a lot until you think about how many calories are in most foods. You don't have to obsess about everything you eat, though. Just make better choices like cutting down on sugar; including more lean sources of calcium (skim milk, lowfat yogurt or cottage cheese); drinking plenty of sugar-free, caffeine-free liquids (water or sugar-free softdrinks are good) and eating more fruits and veggies. Try to get more exercise too.
