I've been having trouble with pimples lately and I've been using ProActive for a while now and while it did seem to help a tiny bit, it hasn't helped much. Does anyone have any other suggestions of products to get rid of pimples (and marks from old pimples)? I also have a problem with redness on my chin, nose, and cheeks and I'm tired of having to use so much makeup to cover it up (which of course doesn't help with the pimples). Any products that help with redness.. but don't cause more pimples? I'd prefer to stick with things I can buy at places like a drug store. Any suggestions would be great, I would be so thankful if something could actually fix these problems!

I like Everyday Minerals' Mint concealer for concealing redness. As far as I know it's only available at everydayminerals.com. It's really great stuff though.

I have sensitive skin, it gets dry and irritated very easily.

I always have on hand Aloe Vera Gel, also I use Avene Skin Recovery Cream Calming Formula ( sensitive and irritaed skin ) both of these help me alot

Good Luck

I've heard good things about the Aveeno anti-redness products. I think I saw them on sale somewhere this week so I'm going to try them.

I agree with the aloe vera gel rec. I use Lily of the Desert brand from the health food store, but the Fruit of the Earth brand that you can find in drugstores and places like Target worked well for me too. (just don't get the ones with green coloring and other additives).

Clean and Clear Acne Advantage Control kit is a good trio of products that you can get at the drugstore. It has a good review posted on here and also one of my co-workers raved about it. I personally use the Clinique Acne Solutions products but those are not drugstore...

As for covering up try using a cream foundation such as Cover Girl Aquasmooth. It's easy to blend and covers really well without a lot of effort. Set it with a loose face powder to make it last all day and help control oil. I like the Maybelline Shine Control loose powder. It has yellow-ish undertones in it that will help offset any redness. Also Physician's Formula has green face powders that are supposed to help cover redness. Make sure you apply a "flesh" colored powder over it though so you don't look like a martian.

Also make sure you moisturize even though you have acne prone skin. Use one labled oil free and non-comedogenic{non-pore clogging}. When I used to see a Dermatologist he recommended Purpose Dual Treatment Lotion, which you can get at the drugstore, also. Apply it in the morning before make-up and in the nighttime after applying any ance meds.

OK, it was probably Eucerin Redness Relief I was thinking of here. So that's something you can look up reviews at MUA for.

And if you do that, also look at reviews for the oil cleansing method under 'Unlisted Brands' as some of them describe how it's relieving redness and irritation. For a couple weeks now I've been using olive oil + Cetaphil knockoff + few drops lavender to clean my face after coming off Retin-A, and glycerin to moisturize or Neutrogena copper cream (and I want the serum!), and my skin is responding wonderfully. All the redness, irritation and flakiness from Retin-A is gone, and no breakouts!

I also am doing clay masks for oiliness; I did 2 this past weekend, Seacret's Dead Sea mask and Queen Helene Mint Julep and they both worked equally well so I will not repurchase that Dead Sea one.

have you ever tried a product called cover fx. It is available at sephora. it is designed for covering up skin problem. it will at least cover up your reddness. It is fragrance free so it won't irritate your skin. The reddness sounds like an irritation. It is also oil free so it won't worsen the problem.
