View Full Version : Burberry or Giorgio?
For the first time, I sprayed on the Burberry Classic perfume and right away I was racking my brain trying to figure out what it was this stuff smelled like. All I could remember is it was something that I used to have a hundred years ago and I didn't like it....finally after about 2 hours it finally hit me, this stuff smells like a light version of Giorgio by Giorgio of Beverly Hills. I remember EVERYONE wore that terribly strong stuff back in the early 80s! I'm surprised that everyone raves about this...and everyone HATES Giorgio because they smell identical!

Hmm, that's interesting. I'll have to compare them sometime to see if they smell the same to me.

I beg to differ :) ... I don't think that they smell anything at all alike! I adore Burberry, but Giorgio, while it might bring back some great memories LOL, is just overkill. It's like the '80's in a bottle LOL!
Well all I know is the instant I sprayed this on...all I could think of is "what perfume does this stuff smell like" so I know it smells extremely similar or I would not have been racking my brain to remember the perfume.

I have heard about that Giorgio Beverly Hills perfume. In Australia when it was popular years ago some restaurants and theatres actually banned people wearing it. I never got to try it. Do they still make it? Just curious why it caused such a fuss.
Well Giorgio smelled pretty good but it's sooooooooooooo strong...if you use it then just one tiny mist is all it takes. Anyway, people sprayed this on so strong and also Poison was another offender at that some time (1982). Like Giorgio, Poison also smells pretty good if used in moderation but you have to just spritz on a fine mist, kind of spray into the air and run your arm through it...HAHA! OH and yes they do still sell it and at Christmas time I saw gift sets of it.
Maybe Burberry does something strange with my chemisty but although I don't have a bottle of Giorgio to spray for comparison, I cannot forget smelling that on everyone...so on me it's pretty much exact only not strong. Well I always said that Giorgio would smell good if it wasn't so strong...same with Poison.

LOL, your post just made me giggle, because those fragrances really do capture the '80's, as does the fact that people would shower in it! The '80's ... where excess was good ;).
I miss 'em LOL!

These don't smell similar in the least to me. I smelled them on my friend's mom's perfume tray last night, even sprayed them on, and they smelled completely different.
Well that's good that it doesn't smell the same on you as it does on me because I almost bought a bottle of Burberry off the internet and thank goodness I just so happened to see a bottle out on the counter and sprayed it first.
