Fun little poll to pass the time.
1. Do you call it a couch or a sofa, or something else?
2. Do you call them sneakers, tennis shoes, or something else?
3. Do you call it a (night)club, or a bar? OR, are they different to you?
4. Do you have supper or do you have dinner?
My answers:
1. Couch. I never use the word sofa.
2. Tennis Shoes. Sneakers sound funny to me. I work with a guy from the UK who calls them trainers or runners.
3. In my area, they are called Bars. We don't have any "clubs" here. I would define a Club as a large bar, but the focus is on the music and atmosphere more than the drinks. Some of my "big city" friends go to the clubs...even if they are actually little dingy corner tavern/bars.
4. At home we have supper. Otherwise, if going to a restaurant, we are going out for dinner.
Curious what everyone else says!

1. Do you call it a couch or a sofa, or something else?
Couch. My parents always called it that, so it rubbed off on me.
2. Do you call them sneakers, tennis shoes, or something else?
sneakers.
3. Do you call it a (night)club, or a bar? OR, are they different to you?
I've always seen a nightclub as a place where you go dancing, and a bar for drinking.
4. Do you have supper or do you have dinner?
dinner.

1. Couch
2. Sneakers
3. Bar, I've never lived in a area that had "real" clubs so never had to really differentiate between the two
4. Dinner! Its weird, in the midwest people call lunch 'dinner' and the last meal 'supper'. I however was raised it to be lunch, dinner/supper.
I have one more for everyone...
5. Pop, Soda or Coke?
I call it pop now after a childhood of calling it soda

1. Couch.
2. Tennis shoes. Or running shoes.
3. They're different. Bars are for drinking and nothing else, and clubs are for music/dancing.
4. Dinner.
5. Coke...everything is coke. Confusing, I know, but that's what my family always said growing up, so it rubbed off on me. :p If I'm around someone who I know will misunderstand, or make fun of me for saying coke, I'll say soft drink.

1. Do you call it a couch or a sofa, or something else? Sofa.
2. Do you call them sneakers, tennis shoes, or something else? Trainers (totally a UK-ism my Hubby's fault).
3. Do you call it a (night)club, or a bar? OR, are they different to you? Two different things - and I prefer Pubs. :)
4. Do you have supper or do you have dinner? Supper.
5. Pop, Soda or Coke? I call it Soda now, called it Pop my whole life.
1. Mostly couch, sometimes sofa.
2. Sneakers
3. They are different to me.
4. Dinner
5. Soda

1. couch
2. sneakers
3. I say "pub" if it's an Irish pub. If it's a place to drink with a dance floor i'll say bar. A club to me is a place you get dressed up to go to and go hang out with your girlfriends.
4. Dinner. I've never used the term supper.
5. soda soda soda. Some regions in the US say "coke" for all carbonated drinks. That doesn't make sense to me unless it's actually a Coke.

1. couch.
2. tennis shoes/whatever brand they are...like if I have a pair of asics or nike's I will probably call them by their name.
3. they are different to me, night club involves loud music and dancing, a bar is...a bar :)
4. dinner for every day and supper for special occasions...but I've been calling it supper more and more.

1. Couch
2. I also generally call them by the brand (for me it's either reeboks or skechers) but I also call them tennies lol
3. Club and bar are different. Clubs are loud, generally crowded and for dancing. Bars are where you can relax and have a drink (though some of those can be loud too) I personally don't go to either since I'm not really a drinker
4. Dinner. I've never met anyone in real life that calls it supper. Guess I'm sheltered;)
5. Soda generically but usually I use the name (Dr Pepper, Diet Pepsi, Coke, so forth)
I have one more for everyone...
5. Pop, Soda or Coke?
I just remembered...I think I've heard some people call it tonic. But I've always called it soda or by it's name (coke, sprite, etc)
1. Chesterfield.
2. Sneakers or the brand at hand (so, in my case, Vans or Chucks)
3. They're different. Even though I don't go to them. XD
4. Supper.
5. Soft drink.

1. I usually say couch, but sometimes sofa.
2. Usually sneakers, but sometimes tennis shoes.
3. Bars and clubs are different. A club is somewhere you go mainly to dance. A bar may have a dance floor, but it is usually small and the main focus is to drink and just hang out.
4. Dinner.
5. Soda

1. Chesterfield.
Hey Carla...please explain "Chesterfield". Never heard that before. Is it a generic term like couch, or is it a particular style of seating???

1. Sofa
2. Sneakers
3. Gin Mill! It's an expression left over from the second world war, and I love it. They're all gin mills to me.
4. Dinner. Who goes out to supper??
5. Soda

1. Couch
2. Tennis shoes
3. They're different. To me, a bar is somewhere with tables, stools, etc. where you just sit/stand around drinking with friends. A club is a place where you dance (and of course drink too).
4. I use them interchangeably, but I most often say supper. My mom comes home from work in the afternoons, and I say, "What's for supper?" And she says :p LOL.

Well, I've always used the term because my parents did, and my grandmother did - I suppose it used to be a much more popular term around here. Did some Wiki-ing, and apparently it's named after the Earl of Chesterfield. Used to be a specific type, I guess, but I don't know, I think the term is getting pretty archaic. XD

1) Couch
2) tennis shoes
3) Bar- a place to drink and sit around. Club- a place to hang out with lots of people and dance, with drinks maybe, but the drinking is not as suggestive.
4) Dinner
5)I use both pop and soda. Usually pop within the family

1. Do you call it a couch or a sofa, or something else? Both couch and sofa
2. Do you call them sneakers, tennis shoes, or something else? Sneakers and tennies
3. Do you call it a (night)club, or a bar? OR, are they different to you? They're both different to me, since a nightclub is for dancing, and not a lot of bars are for dancing.
4. Do you have supper or do you have dinner? Dinner. I'm still not sure what supper is, lol. Is it supposed to be a really late meal?
5. Pop, Soda or Coke? Soda, Coke only if it is a Coke. I prefer Pepsi though.

1. Usually call it a couch or lounge, but if it pulls out into a bed I call it sofa.
2. Joggers
3. Can be many things. For sit down drinks I call it the pub, if there's a dance floor then it's a night club. My favorite (I think this is an Aussie term) if it's a rough or rundown place we call it "The local dive".
4. Dinner

Couch

Bar usually, but I honestly think of a "club" as having a dance floor, loud music, etc.
4. Do you have supper or do you have dinner?
Dinner - never called it supper!
5. Pop, Soda or Coke?

1. Couch
2. Sneakers
3. Bar and night club are different to me. A bar is somewhere more casual you go and have drinks. A night club I think is dressier and plays loud techno music lol
4. Dinner
5. Coke or Soda

1. Couch
2. Running shoes (or basketball shoes, etc...basically, whatever they are for. But as a general term, I say running shoes)
3. Its a bar if they don't have dancing, a club if they do.
4. Dinner
5. Coke. Then I clarify further, if need be. I can't help it, I laugh when I hear "pop", it sounds so silly to me.

1. Do you call it a couch or a sofa, or something else?
Couch.
2. Do you call them sneakers, tennis shoes, or something else?
Depends. :p I usually wear vans as my daily shoes so I call 'em my vans, unless I'm going to gym, then they become my Adidas. :D
3. Do you call it a (night)club, or a bar? OR, are they different to you?
2 different places. A club is where you dance and have fun. A bar is where you drink and sit down (if there's room)
4. Do you have supper or do you have dinner?
Dinner.
5. Pop, Soda or Coke?
Pop, but typically it's based on what brand is in the fridge.

1. Couch
2. Tennis shoes
3. Club
4. Dinner
5. Soda unless it's Coca-Cola or Dr. Pepper because Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper are special drinks and they shouldn't be generalized with the rest of the soda population. :p
