Anyone take or have taken anti depressant pills while pregnant. My doctor told me to think seriously about taking it cuz it could cause birth defect, but at the same time, i dont know how much longer I can go feeling the way I do.
any adivce or experience would be great.

It depends greatly on the antidepressant hun.
I know the ones I take would be safe until the 3rd trimester talked to my doctor about it.

Talk to your doctor and see if they can suggest anything that will help that won't be harmful to the little one.

Also depending on the severity of your depression you could try diet change and eating (or supplementing) more Omega 3...

We want happy Mommies and healthy babies so I hope everything works out! *hugs*

vitamin d or being in the sun for a very brief time is probably safer than taking meds. You just can't chance it with a fetus developing. Gentle yoga to get the stagnant energies flowing or tai chi perhaps?

I just read a really interesting article about a study done at my university, where they discovered that modern anti-depressants don't work a whole lot better than placebos for everything but the most severe depression. I would google natural remedies/things you can do instead of taking medication. It might work just as well!

St. John's Wort is an herbal supplement that you can buy at the drugstore that is supposed to help balance and elevate your moods. I would check to see if that is something you can use while pregnant and maybe that could work for you. I would definitely talk to someone though whether it's your ob/gyn or a psychiatrist because you don't want to slip into post-partum depression later on, that can be really serious.

I was in the same boat as you when I was pregnant. I really think it's partly b/c of the hormones being messed up. I had to weigh the options and think how bad do I really feel and is it worth it to take medications that could have the chance of harming the baby? It's not good to be depressed but if you have a lot of support you can get through this. What helped me the most when I was depressed was make myself do something everyday. Get up- get dressed, put some make up on, go out - do something! Since you have a baby on the way- there will be tons of thing you can do to get ready. Even when I didn't want to- I just did something I found that sitting around, sleeping tends to make things a lot worse. I hope you feel better soon.

St Johns Wort & other natural supplements used for depression are definitely not safe during pregnancy. Talk with your doctor about options during pregnancy. Some antidepressants are safe or have very little risk when used during pregnancy.
