I think I want to try one, but I don't know which is best :p Also, do you typically use another cleanser/toner afterward? I was going to pick up Lumenes just to give it a go.

I haven't repurchased yet, but I love MAC's Cleanse Off Oil. I did use another cleanser afterwards, but just my usual one (Proactiv Renewing Cleanser). Right now I'm using makeup remover wipes (Neutrogena Makeup Removing Towelettes), but I use my cleanser after those too. My pores just clog so easily that it makes me feel better to do the extra step. I guess for me it's like makeup removal + cleansing. Once I get the Cleanse Off Oil again, I'll probably just alternate that with the wipes depending on how lazy I feel.

I use olive oil mixed with Cetaphil, and few drops of lavender oil because it's good for your skin and I love it. I posted a link to a thread on natural cleansers that had a lot of info on using oils, but it turned out you had to register as a member of that forum to see it. I didn't think about that when I posted as I was so used to going to the site and my cookies logged me in automatically.

Sorry my keyboard stopped working so I could only post link. I read this yesterday about cleansing oils and its really interesting how different ways of cleansing are popular in different countries. I want to try it too but there are not alot of them around and they tend to be pricey or have lemon/orange oils which burn my face.

I use olive oil mixed with castor oil (which is great for my oily face). I use 4 parts olive oil to 1 part castor.

I've used Mac's cleanse off oil and Cliniques cleansing balm (not an oil obviously but quite like the oil) but I now use extra virgin coconut oil. It's cheaper, has no other ingredients (obviously lol), smells better and is more gentle to me. I do use a light cleanser after just to remove any residue. I only use the oil for eye makeup and sometimes on my lips (if what I'm using tends to leave a stain)

Where can I find coconut oil and about how much does it cost? Does this stuff rinse off with water? I can't cleanse after because I'm allergic to things that foam.

I picked up the Lumene one yesterday & it seems really nice so far - it definitely takes off all eye/face m/u nicely, & leaves my skin moisturized. I didn't use a cleanser after, but I may add one in if I start seeing clogged pores.

I buy a large tub of coconut oil at my local natural foods store. I think it's around 8-10 oz. & I pay around $9 for it.

Oh, and I forgot to add that I don't know if it rinses off with water alone. I use it on the ends of my damp hair after I shower.

On Ravelry(an online fiber arts forum) a lot of people in the Painted Ladies group(the beaty group there) like cleansing oils. Many mix 20% castor oil with 80% sunflower oil or olive oil a few drops of esstial oil is optional. Everyone who's tried it gets good results. Many reports of unclogged pores.

You can try different oils as has already been mentioned by others. I haven't tried it but plan to soon.

ETA: I don't agree with everything in the article. I wanted to show the recipe. Here's a link about it the oil cleansing method (http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com)

Thanks for the link! Its very helpful and I am going to try the recipe. I do disagree with the 8 glasses of water thing as the amount of water you should drink is based on body weight and activity.

If you are constipated then you could be dehydrated. If your urine is clear then you have hit the limits of how much water you need. This is assuming you dont have any underlying conditions. One can easily drown your body in a way by drinking too much water.

I didn't agree with everything in the article either. I wondered if I should post it at all. I figured that would be throwing the baby out with the bath water so to speak. I really wanted to show people the info on the recipe that was getting all the buzz on Ravelry.

Do you think it's wrong to post an article/info if you don't agree with everything that's in it? I wan to know because I struggled with that for a mintue. I probably should put a disclamier on in the future.

As long as you state that you don't agree with everything in the article to back yourself up, you're fine.

ETA: After reading Samantha's response, I should clarify that you don't HAVE to put a disclaimer up when you post an article. I meant that if it will make you feel better if you don't agree with everything in it, then go right ahead.

I use the Kose cleansing oil as well as the MAC Cleanse Off Oil. I use cleansing oil in the evening to remove my facial makeup. (I use Lancome Bifacil to remove eye makeup.) The Kose one is much creamier and I prefer it to MAC, which is thinner. I have dry skin so I don't use another cleanser afterward but I do use an alcohol-free toner.

Personally (could just be me) I really don't see what's wrong with posting an article even if you don't agree with everything it says. I wouldn't even put a disclaimer saying I don't agree with it because obviously different things work for different people and everyone can easily figure out for themselves if they don't agree with something without taking anothers opinion into consideration. JMO though.

I agree with you about 8 glasses of water. The lastest studies say we may not need that much everyday. It depends on you. I agree with Abbytabby about different things working for different people. So, I felt to make a sweeping generalization about commerical products was off base. Thanks to MRC0806 for your take on it.

I found a tub of coconut oil at Wal Mart of all places for about $9.50. It is in the vitamin/supplements section.

I am loyal to my Hydropholic Oil. I cleanse with it usally at night to remove all the guck and makeup from my face. The one thing that is important to remember about cleansing oils is to make sure that you wash all of it off of your face thoroughly. If you don't, it could cause breakouts so you must be careful!
