Can you please share your experience with it? Pros and cons. My gyn switched me because my insurance won't cover Yasmin any more. Which irritates me because I was so happy with it. I asked for something that would help with acne like Yasmin so he gave me a prescription for Alesse. TIA.:)

My acne was WORSE on it, and it didn't decrease my periods. A friend of mine got pregnant while on it (but I can't testify 100% that she didn't ever miss any pills), and as little effect as it was having on me I'd just about believe that would've happened to me if I had been sexually active at the time. I'm sure it works for some people, but it did nothing for me.

Hmmmm I've heard good things about Alesse, but haven't been on it myself. I think w/any BCP YMMV, so it's kind of trial and error though. Yasmin was horrible for me, yet Ortho-Lo was fab til the last 2 cycles I was on

The only BCP I've been on is Alesse, so I can't compare it with anything else.
I was very happy with it (currently not on BCP). I had pretty consistent acne for years before going on it (nothing really bad, but your usual monthly breakouts), and on Alesse that went away. My periods went from heavy to almost non-existent, which was a plus for me. I can't think of any cons, except that I was moody for a week or so during the month, but I can't say that I wouldn't have been that way without them. :)

Thanks. I guess I'll just see how it goes. If it doesn't work out I guess I'll just pay $20 each month for Yasmin.

I am on Alesse and have been for almost two years. I absolutely love it. Before that, I took OTC and it made me freakin' crazy - mean and moody.

With Alesse, I notice no side effects in my personality/mood. It also makes a world of difference on my periods - they are 2 days shorter than they used to be and I have virtually no cramps, whereas before with cramps I could not get out of bed at times.

In short, I love Alesse!

I've used Alesse for years, and was also pretty happy with the results. My skin looked great and I didn't notice any mood swings. I had to switch to Diane 35 for other reasons, but if those weren't an issue, I'd still be on Alesse.
