I'm definitely not an e/s wearer, mostly because I feel uncomfortable applying it and I never think it looks very good on me.

I've decided to give it a shot though and I think I know what I want. I want a creamy/cream texture, with some sheen (but no shimmer or glitter!), in a taupe/cream/nude/light peach sort of color.

I really am an e/s newbie and I'd love any recs you gals could give me for something like that!

In terms of my coloring: I'm fairly pale, wearing BE's "light" shade (the darker of the two in the beginner's pale box). I stick to brown mascara and occasionally brown liner. I wear lipstain or chapstick everyday as well, and the occasional bronzer. TIA

Cream shadows are really hard to work with as they crease and often come off completely. For drugstore, WnW has some surprisingly great palettes. I know they have at least a couple nude palettes and you might want to look into those. You can get a few shades to play around with.

For a d/s line, check out L'oreal's HIP line for their paints -- the lightest shades include a pale nude gold that has a pearl finish (no glitter or shimmer).

For a great dept. store product, look into Clinique's new cream shadows (the wand style ones). They last forever w/o creasing, and come in more shades of nude than color.

With hotter summer months approaching I wouldn't highly recommend using a creamy shadow but like Christine said the L'Oreal HIP Cream Shadow Paints are good. I have Secretive, which is a pale nude/gold color and it lasts all day when I use it. It even comes with a little brush to apply it with. Revlon's Molten Metal Liquid Shadows are also good. They have a refreshing cooling sensation when applied and when dry they still have a nice metallic sheen to them.

Powder shadows can have a nice sheen to them, you don't need a cream for that. Try Wet n Wild's MegaEyes Shadow Pots in Cream and Fine Wink. Their eyeshadow is actually of surprisingly good quality. Also try Covergirl Eye Enhancers in Champagne and Tapestry Taupe. Stila's Kitten eyeshadow is my fave lately. It looks soooo gorgeous, it's like my eyes are glowing. Just brush it all over your lids and you're set. You won't believe how bright your eyes will look.

2nd the rec for Clinique's new cream shadows!! Like Christine said, these are absolutely budge-proof and don't crease. And I have oily lids. I have the shade Lucky Penny, which is beautiful pearl nude light brown. I think this shade would be perfect for you. HTH.

Thanks for all the recs girls! I hardly ever buy new makeup so this is exciting, and since I definitely need more mascara, I have the excuse to check it out! Besides, WnW is not a bank breaker.
