View Full Version : Allergic to EM? Say it isn't so!

I just posted a thread raving for EM, and now I'm having a bad reaction. I haven't gotten any breakouts or rash bumps, but my face is very itchy, hot and red from the time I apply to the time I wash off and apply a soothing moisturizer.
When I switched back to PF Minerals, my skin went back to normal.
I pray I'm not allergic! It looks so pretty on me! I'm even tempted to just deal with the itch!
Strangely, the concealer is fine so its just the foundation that itches. I'm going to try applying PF Minerals first (as a protective buffer) and then layer EM over it. Fingers crossed!

Hope it works out for you! That sounds like a really uncomfortable feeling and much like my experience with BE.

That sounds really uncomfortable Christine, and I've been there when I had allergic reactions to face makeup and products. Trust me, you won't be able to tolerate the itching because it will drive you crazy. That and it's just not healthy. I hope that the method you're trying works, otherwise I would stop using it if you're still having a reaction.

Hm that's odd, Christine, since the foundation and concealer have the same ingredients. I know some people itch from bismuth in mineral foundations, but EM doesn't contain any.

I can't wear Everyday Minerals for that same reason, had to give my foundations away. Now that you mention it, I might try PF minerals one day.

I suspect (or rather HOPE) that maybe the foundation is just too drying. I could try a heavier moisturizer, but my skin is already really oily in the summer. In any case, I'm not ready to give up on EM yet! :D

Maybe the semi-matte is too drying for you? The first samples I ordered were semi-mattes, and I had the same sort of itch until I switched over to original glo. Maybe you're dealing with the same thing.

That's an interesting thought...could be the formula. I agree that Original Glo is less drying than Semi-Matte.

Hmmm...the same thing happened to me after using Intensive for a while. The funny thing is that the samples I ordered where good and I didn't have a reaction. The samples of the Original Glo, Semi-Matte and Intensive were all ok. After using up my samples, I ordered a full size of the Intensive then I started getting little bumps all over especially around the chin and mouth area after using it for a while and itching. I wonder if I happened to have gotten a bad batch? I've stopped using EM for now. :(

I always found it was really important to wear a good moisturizer (oil controlling if needed) with any powder foundation.

Try using a silicone-based primer underneath the minerals - this creates a barrier between your skin & the foundation. The Semi-Matte does contain ingredients to control oil, so maybe thats part of the problem too.
