I have brown eyes, and most of the e/s colors I wear are neutrals in the brown family (light to dark), bronzes, gold, light and medium purple, rose and light peach. I have no idea what other colors work for brown eyes. I do have blue shadows that I tried once (at home) and it looked good on me. I have yet to get opinions on those shades.
What other colors should I try? I'm open to trying different colors, as long as it's not too bright. TIA!! :)

Really, it depends more on your actual colorig/skin tones. With brown eyes you can wear pretty much any color shadow but obviously some shades will look better because they flatter your skin more. In general though I LOVE all purples on brown eyes along with deep or dusty pinks and roses. Green also looks nice with brown eyes as do peaches, corals and oranges. I say just have fun experimenting.

I'm fair skinned with dark brown eyes and light ash brown hair. I love rosey beiges and browns, golden browns, grey browns, brownish greys, deep browns, light beiges, chestnut browns, you name it. If it's in the brown family, it will work beautifully.
Any violet or lavender shades look nice to, and olice greens are nice if they're subtle. My personal motto, one that has never failed, is: you can wear the color if you can find it somewhere in your skin and heair. I don't like bright blues, turquoises, reds, yellows, greens or purples on me or on anyone else.
Eye shadow is for the purpose of shaping and shading the eye and the orbital bones. Garish colors look childish and slutty (in my opinion!) and do nothing to flatter the wearer.
Once agin, that's my personal opinion.

I love greens on brown eyes (MAC Golden Olive, Sumptuous Olive) and warm plums (MAC Star Violet, BE Heart Glimmer). I also think grays can be pretty (Stila Diamond Lil!). Brown eyes can wear anything IMO :)

I have dark brown eyes that are practically black, a fair warm skintone (Prescriptives Y/O) and medium brown hair with lots of blonde highlights. Brown-eyed girls are lucky because they can technically wear any eyeshadow shade, but I agree that it is also a matter of what shades look right with your skintone. I love browns, greens (especially olive greens), bronzes, golds, champagnes, tans and some blues. Where I have a warm skintone, I stick with warm-toned shades. A little experimenting will lead you to discoveries of what you like and what you don't.

IMO, brown-eyed gals can wear any colour...you should just feel comfortable wearing them. Just wear them correctly and not over dusting your lids with loud colour!:) I love wearing blues, purples, oranges, berries, and greens to compliment my brown eyes and I don't think I look slutty. I wore greens, teal, AND purple today and got a ton of compliments though I left the rest of my face muted since my eyes were a little bold. I guess it's all in the way you use them, as I said before.
I don't know if this is allowed but here's a link to a brown-eyed girlie wearing blue shadow that I abso. fell in love with!

Look how awesome here eyes stand out! It's amazing!
You can also try using a shimmery pink or orange shade on the lids and berry tone in the crease. My friends love it when I pair MAC Expensive Pink or Paradisco on the lids and Cranberry/Trax/Sketch in the crease. That's another fave look. Somehow the tiny gold flecks just make my entire eye area sparkle. try it!
Oh dude and if you have the following MAC shades, try this:
-Brule/Vanilla/Mylar or any off-white matte shade as wash
-Orange in the crease
-Lily White pigment on the lids
-Parfait Amour/Plum/Violet pigment or any bright-ish purple in inner corners AND outer corners
-Black Tied/Carbon or any black to darken the outer V a little
-Add a little Nylon to highlight
-blackliner inner rims
Deep purple lining lower lashlines
^^^a sunset look that will just make your eyes stand out like nobody's business! :D

Jess that look sounds super pretty and I like the look in the link too though maybe not with the red lips;) (at least for me)
I think "slutty" or childish is a bit...odd a title to place on shadow/makeup colors. It's more about the application really. I mean honestly if a person is bad at application they're going to look just as bad in neutral shades as they do in super bright ones. Sure, when doing a bright/colorful look you need to be more careful about how you balance everything and obviously you don't want to pile a bright purple shadow on an inch think, add dark red vampy lips and orange blush but color doesn't have to be some tacky like back in the 60's with the super frosty blue, times have changed and color is fun to experiment with (JMO but neutral all the time is boring for me) and makeup really should be fun, otherwise what's the point?

I have light honey colored brown eyes, and I love wearing purples, golds, greens, blues and silvers. I love my Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box because it has so many fun colors to play around with and I get inspired to do some cool combinations. I would suggest getting a palette that has a lot of different shades in it and just play around with different looks. Pop Beauty has a brown eyes palette with a ton of colors in it. I also like the look of the Sephora Summer Blockbuster Palette.
A look that I really like is rich olive green shadow paired with gold eyeliner. I like Ulta Eyeshadow in Golden Olive and Urban Decay Liquid Liner in Chains. I like rich blues a lot, especially ones with a silver-y tone to them. Dark blues make the whites of your eyes look whiter which is turn makes your eyes look brighter.

It's already been said -- brown eyed gals have the world open to them as far as color options go! It's all a matter of finding the right tones to flatter your skin color!
I think my absolute favorite color on brown eyes is deep navy or a blackened teal ... I did a freelance job for Px a couple of weeks ago, and their head MA did a model's brown eyes with the blackened teal, and her eyes just looked so bright and alive!

I really like brightly colored liners on brown eyes (teal etc). They really make the brown pop. If I do that I usually just wear a neutral shadow over the rest of my eye.

I agree with everything that's been said... as long as you tweak it to fit your skintone, you can really wear any color eyeshadow you want. So lucky! I find a lot of times when I'm looking at people's FOTDs and I fall in love with someone's eyeshadow, only to find they have brown eyes. Like that FOTD that Jess posted... I could do that, but it wouldn't look nearly as good on me as it did on that girl because my eyes are hazel, mostly on the greenish side.

I think greens and purples are especially flattering on brown eyes, but girls with brown eyes have tons of options, as everyone has said. :)

I have amber-brown eyes, and I find that pairing bright colors with neutral colors can give your eyes a conservative pop.
For example, try lining your eyes in a bold color like blue, green, or purple and then dust over your entire lid with some shimmery gold hue.
Or use a bold color on the center of your lid and blend a gold or brown shade outward toward your inner eye and outer corner of your eye (or other way around.)
I love your sunset-eyes idea, Jessica! I think I'm definitely going to try that in the near future.

Thanks for all the help ladies!! Not that I should be buying more eyeshadows, lol. I'm thinking of getting that one brand from Sally Beauty Supply that was posted a while ago, since it was super cheap. :)
