Seems like I read somewhere that fresh and frozen fruit are very comparable in quality of nutrition. But what about canned fruit? I want to eat more, and canned is going to be so much more convenient.

With canned fruits there might be extra sugar because of the syrup they add to it. So I would read the ingredients. I agree that it is so much more convenient though!

I heard you have to be careful as the cans are now lined with a plastic to prevent leaching with citric foods but then the plastic can leach too. Frozen is better as its picked from the fields and then frozen. Canned has more processing so it does lose nutrients.

I prefer frozen because canned fruit is full of sugar and preservatives.
I just pop the fruit I need into the fridge the night before and take it for work.

Or eat it frozen. Mmm frozen mango and pineapple, SO good.
(so good infact I think I shall have some now!)

Canned fruit really isn't all that bad; it potentially has just as many nutrients because of the flash processing. Sometimes it really is "fresher" than "fresh fruit". But yeah, there's often some added sugar. I think if you're going to do canned fruit, your best bet is to look for stuff packaged in it's own juices instead of syrup (though light is obviously better than heavy). Those little fruit cups are so convenient!

The way I see it, if I'm eating fruit--in any form--instead of a Snickers bar, it's a healthy choice :)

I agree with you, Katie! Even if it is a syrup, it's still better for me than chips or a candy bar.

I agree too! I'd much rather eat a fruit cup than junk food.

Just be sure and get the canned fruit with no Heavy Syrup and is canned in pineapple juice(or natural fruit juices) I believe is what they use for the no sugar added ones. Personally I think that if you eat the stuff in syrup then you are no better off than if you ate a candy bar because really the sugar in a candy bar isn't worse than the heavy corn syrup as far as I know. Actually corn syrup is really really bad for you!
