Do you have a vitamin C product that has helped your skin?

Do you really think the ones at $100 are that much better than the ones at $20?

I have used Lancomes Vitabolic and found that it makes my skin feel like ripe fruit. Yes that is the best description that I can come up with, or perhaps a ripe tomato. You know when you take a ripe tomato off the vine? It feels like it is full of water, firm but with this kind of underlying softness.

I haven't compared the expensive to the cheap though. There is a drugstore knock off for Vitabolic available here that is about 1/4 of the price but I never tried it. IIRC I used one tube of Vitabolic and never repurchased it.

Some of the Vitamin C products are so great. I used to recommend Vitamin C skin care to my clients that was a gel. I think it was the MD (http://md-skincare.00freehost.com) brand gel. It was a while ago, but it is a good one. Another one I like comes in a kit of skin care and I haven't been able to find the gel without having to buy the whole kit.

First vitamin c product I used was from Serious Skin Care and it was pretty good for my sensitive skin. Body Shop, Jason's, Avalon, Derma e all have Vitamin c stuff that is under $30. Body Shop has a promo of buy one get one half price in Canada. Not sure if its the same in the US. Apparently its calming for sensitive skin types.

I have seen and used a Revlon Vitamin C facial scrub from Big Lots that I really love. It smells great. Nice and citrusy.

I use Skin Simple Vitamin C face serum from Wal Mart. It cost $16 Canadian and is better than the more expensive products I've used. I put it on first, then my moisturizer. It makes my skin super soft, makes it glow and makes the foundation go on flawlessly.

I use La Roche Posay Active C and love it. It's very similar to Lancôme Vitabolic (both companies are owned by L'Oreal) but costs less. It has 5% ascorbic acid just like Vitabolic and comes in a metal tube so it doesn't oxidise. There's also a version with sunscreen but it's only available in Europe. My skin is ligther and looks much healthier since I started using it.

The only Vit C product I've had results from are the Marilyn Miglin patches that I bought from HSN. These patches actually brightened and "toned" my skin. However, they are used like a masque, which requires time and you have to remember to put it on your schedule. I used Cellex C religiously for 6 months and saw no big difference in my skin with wrinkles or age spots. I've also used less expensive lines and didn't get noticeable improvement, they worked like any other moisturizer.

i don't use any special vitamin c products, i just use pure lime/lemon juice! they're a bit tough. they dry out the skin a bit, and they can burn a little at first, but it's worth it. i use those juices on my face to lighten up my post-acne marks. they work wonderfully! a lot of those marks have deminished over time and my complexion noticeably brightened up quickly.

i wanted to add:
after cleansing my face thoroughly before going to bed, i use a cotton ball soaked in concentrated lemon/lime juice and run it all over my face. i wait for the juice to get fully absorbed and dry up then i go to bed. i wash my face with a mild cleanser in the morning, and that's it! :)

i also heard that orange juice works really well and doesn't sting as much, but i haven't tried it.

tip: to soften and brighten areas such as elbows, knees, etc., exfoliate with a mix of olive (or avocado) oil + magnesium sulfate + lemon juice
