Hi everyone!
Like a lot of girls growing up in Hong Kong I developed a passion for shopping, this didn’t stop at just shoes, jeans or cds, once into my teens I began collecting every kind of cosmetic I could find. This is an expensive habit and by the time my twenties rolled around I was skincare obsessed too. When my husband Gavin and I moved California, my tastes changed again, I gave up wearing make-up and focused on expanding my skincare collection, not to mention my new concerns about suncare and UV protection, espacially since my eurasian (hapa) skin burns and freckles easily. Gavin contiues to be amazed at the products that I will buy to keep my skin both sun and wrinkle-free.
So Gavin encouraged me to start me own blog, uvguardian.com (http://uvguardian.com/) was born, dedicated to sun protection, I try to keep up with all the new ways to shield our skin and avoid sun damage. We also decided to launch a new kind of beauty review site, one that would tell you a little about all the brands that there are and even teach you something you didn’t know about the manufacturer or the ingredients they use. fortheface.com (http://www.fortheface.com/) has been our star project and it continues to grow daily, with original reviews based on factual information and research. We hope to find a good way to connect fortheface and iCompact.
Once we had decided to create fortheface, we felt it important to see what other kinds of beauty sites and communties there were out there. We stumbled upon icompact and were instantly impressed by how friendly and safe the forum was. Unlike many other forums, Aimee has done such a wonderful job of creating a welcoming environment that a great bunch of women feel comfortable enough to visit regularly to share thoughts and make friends.
As for the future of iCompact, we certainly hope it will be bright! In the near term we'll be looking at some simple updates - fixing a few broken links, removing the pop-up ads and things like that. You'll probably see a few links to the fortheface website as well. The fun stuff should start after we've spent more time getting to know iCompact and finding out what kind of features you want - so if you have any ideas, please let us know!
