Does anyone know how to treat clogged pores with dry skin? My dermatologist said I have lots of clogged pores. He told me to use Tazorac and Cetaphil. I can't tolerate the Tazorac. And it seems to make bumps perhaps by bringing all the junk to the surface.
I can use it about once a week is all and that doesn't help much.

Looky looky: Kinerase is the way to go for acne with dry (http://www.genuine.bz/kinerase/) skin. I finally feel like I don't have the amount of zits that I used to. I don't have all the gross dryness either. I'm telling you, if you find one you like, stick with it! http://community.icompact.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I've been using a very gentle face wash (OoO for sensitive skin) daily and then using an exfoliator (St. Ives Apricot Scrub for sensitive skin) nearly daily. My skin is too acne prone to use moisturizer on my face (I've been experimenting with putting it on my throat), but if this is an issue for you, you might try using an extremely gentle moisturizer to follow.

I've found the exfoliation really helps keep scaliness from dryness at bay.

I use Equate cleanser (Wal-Mart version of Cetaphil). It's great. I was having the same problem, but not anymore. Good luck. Gail

I have a good friend who sells Avon, so she gets to try the new stuff out a little quicker than it hits the general market. She has flipped for that new cream they just came out with; Anew Alternative Intensive Age Treatment. She tends to have a lot of clogged pores/whiteheads, and she says this stuff is curing them fast! She says it's better than the Ultimate cream they came out with a few months back, and she and I both liked that. She usually shoots straight with me on the products she likes and doesn't like from Avon. If you can find a rep and buy one of the small, sample jars or a bunch of the little packet samples, that might give you enough to try it out.

Also some people get the more expensive Avon products cheaper on ebay, but I'd rather buy from a person even if I have to pay a little more.

Good luck,
Dar

AHA are good for dry skin and but not as good for clogged pores. You can alternate with AHA and BHA for the clogged pores but only on the needed areas as it is quite drying. Paula's Choice has a routine for that. Check her website.

I would recommend finding a good exfoliator to use a couple times a week which will help clear out the pores and then buy a thicker facial creme...perhaps something from Clinique?

A Mini-Peel is great for this. I use a very mild handmade soap that has no detergents, fragrances, dyes or animal products and is made from olive and palm oils and I use a glycolic peel every 3-7 days. The peel has been a great find for me...I won't ever go without it now.
