Just a quick note to say welcome back and look at all this new stuff! :D

This is our first big update after spending some time getting to know iCompact, talking with Aimee about her vision, and reading your suggestions. We hope to do IC proud, and with the new review system in place the stage is set for some interesting new features.

I'll be posting a flurry of announcements over the next few days, and will be around to explain some of the new features, answer quesitons, and deal with some of the bugs that will probably pop up.

But for now please enjoy the new iCompact, and please let us know your questions and suggestions. Take care and have a great weekend!

Thanks, Gavin and Maeve! :) You worked hard on this, and it shows. I really like the new look. The new features are cool, too. It's been fun poking around the "new" site! I'm glad there's a "preview post" function. The boards had this during a previous incarnation, and it was useful.

BTW, I am very glad the reviews sections got a makeover too. Nicely accessible! I stopped writing reviews a while back because there was something wonky going on with it, and some of my reviews wouldn't show up. I'm not sure if it was just on my end or not. I miss posting reviews and hope it get back to it again. It'll be fun trying out the new format. :) I like that the reviews will now be connected to our board username and profile.

That's great feedback, thank you. The review system did get a complete reworking, with Maeve sorting out each and every one by hand - ouch. She's completed about 7000, and there's still around 5000 left!

Having new reviews will really help keep the database relevant, thanks again.

Wow, Maeve! Thank you so much for doing all that! :) You both have done so much the past week. I, and I'm sure the rest of us, really appreciate all the work you have put into iCompact.

I've been keeping some reviews on the back burner for a while in hopes of the review section getting retooled, and I hope to post them soon... if I can just stay off the boards long enough. Heheh. ;)

I'm finding it much easier to navigate the site than before.

I LOVEEE the new boards! I like that you kept the simplistic format of before for easy navigation. The new "faces" board and "hauls" board were great ideas!

I'm loving the new site too! I'm having fun exploring everything! I had to reset my password to get back on, but everything in my profile is still intact which is great. Thank you, Maeve and Gavin, for all of your hard work. Everything looks awesome, and I do agree that the site does look more professional. It's a lot easier to navigate as well. I would love to start writing reviews too, as I always found it complicated before. I was actually having withdrawals the past few days that the site was done, hehe! ICompact RULES! :)

Site looks good. The general design (ie. rounded corners) is very Mac-like. I like! :D

I am loving the new options. I was having trouble writing reviews also. Now I can write them again. I love the larger avatars and the whole look of the site is so fresh and professional. I'm very pleased so far:cool: .

Funny you mention the avatars... we were like... 48pixels is too small (old site), but 100pixels is too big... 80 seemed "just right" :D

You are so welcome:) . I liked the old icompact but there were some changes that needed to be made. I have to admit I'm little overwheamed by all the changes. I hadn't played around with everything yet. I'll report back later.

Most of the avatars I've found on avatar websites are 96x96 or 100x100. I was waondering where are people finding 80x80 avatars that are not preprogrammed on icompact? Are they on avatar websites or are posters making avatars themselves?

You can upload any picture and it will be automatically resized. So you can really have some fun with your avatar! Enjoy :)

Actually, can *all* of the smilies be updated? It looks as though a few old ones have been updated and a few new ones added already. Also, would it be possible to add a smiley that's laughing and one that's crying? If you can that would be wonderful!

I noticed that I can't edit a post in Off-Topic if I'm the thread starter. I just noticed my bad spelling but can't change it. Also, if we can get more smilies I like to get the one that's rolling on the floor laughing.
